Introducing Twitter & Tweet

We had loads of great entries for our competition to win a Robin Family and our Little Buttons had an incredibly difficult job choosing their favourite names. After a lot of behind-closed-doors deliberation in the playroo.. Judging Room, they finally emerged with a decision.

So, we introduce to you, our robins Twitter and Tweet.

Congratulations to our lucky winner, Georgie, who wins a Robin Family all of her own. Georgie only won because her lovely friend Sara nominated her, so we’ve popped a little Tweet in the post to Sara too.

Well done to both of you and commiserations to everyone who entered, there were some really great names. If you would like to hear about further competitions, then don’t forget to sign up to our newsletter.

Win a Robin Family for a friend

We love our Robin family and so it seems do our fans and customers because when we asked our Facebook followers what prize you’d like to win, you overwhelmingly chose the Robin family as the prize for our next giveaway.

So here’s the chance to win them, but this is a competition with a twist. To stand a chance of winning you need to come up with some imaginative names for our two Robins, but on this occasion, your entry will be not for you, but for a friend who you think would love to receive our Robin family (of course, you can always ask them to enter for you too!).

We’ll accept entries up to 8pm on Sunday 23rd October 2016 and then our three little buttons will choose their favourite robin names from all the entries. We’ll announce the winner no later than midnight on the 23rd October 2016.

So, to win a Robin Family for your friend, all you need to do is fill out the form below. Don’t forget to then tell your friend you’ve entered by tagging them on our Facebook page and we’ll drop them a quick email too, suggesting that they might like to enter for you!

How many buttons were in the jar at the Handmade Fair?

If you entered our competition at the Handmade Fair, you should now have received an email from us (do check your inbox and junk email – it has a little ‘thank you’ on it from us). We know that so many of those of you that entered have been desperate to find out how many were in there (and, therefore, who the winner of the £50 Gift Voucher is).

Sorry it’s taken a week to get ourselves organised after the Fair.  We had over 350 entries, so it took a while to go through them and work out who the winner was.We had over 350 entries to the competition

It was great to watch while you all tried to work out the right answer.  We saw the ‘concentration face’, as we called it, many times.  There were many different approaches taken to the calculation – from the scientific and mathematical approach which involved lots of calculations being scribbled on the back of the entry form, to the random ‘just think of a big number and that will do’ guesses.

Of the guesses we received, the lowest guess was 450 and the highest guess was over 2 million!  As the person that had to count and then sort the buttons back into the right jars, I wish it was the first guess and I’m glad it wasn’t the second.  Ninety percent of the guesses received were between 1,100 and 20,000 with the average guess in this range being 6,411.

On the email we’ve sent all of you that entered the competition, we’ve included a reminder as to what your guess was, so those of you that were with friends and family and were getting competitive with each other, can now work out who was closest and boast about your achievement.

However, we’ve kept you in suspense for long enough.  It’s time to reveal the answer and the winner…

We can reveal that, the total number of buttons in the jar at the Handmade Fair 2016 was 6,778

We had an incredible seven people who guessed numbers within sixty of the correct answer, but the closest, with a guess of 6789 (just 11 buttons away from a perfect answer), was Hayley Mills.  Congratulations Hayley – top button guessing!  We’ll contact you by email with details of how to claim your gift voucher.

So, there we are.  Thank you to everyone who visited our stand at the Fair and don’t forget to check your email for a little ‘thank you’ for entering the competition.  If you haven’t got an email, then please email us at crafted@skelter.co.uk and we’ll sort it out.

Finally, just to say, if you didn’t tick the box on our entry form to say you would like to receive further news, competitions and special offers from Skelter, then you won’t receive any further emails from us.  If you would like to hear more, then sign up to our newsletter and we’ll make sure you’re kept in touch with Skelter’s future adventures.
